Request account and data deletion

This page explains how BetterShelf users can request deletion of their account and associated personal data in accordance with Google Play rules and GDPR.

How to request deletion

  1. In the app, go to Settings → Account → Account management → “Request account deletion”.
  2. If you don't have the app installed, email us from the address used in your account at hello@codewhiskers.app with the subject “BetterShelf account deletion”.
  3. We'll confirm your request and process it within 30 days (usually within 7 days).

Identity verification

Requests made within the app are automatically tied to your account. For requests via email, we may ask you to confirm a verification code sent to your email, or provide additional information for security.

What data we delete

  • Account data (email, internal identifiers).
  • Content created in BetterShelf: shelves, products, photos, notes, statistics.
  • App settings and notification preferences.

Third-party data processed by Google (e.g., purchases or subscriptions through Google Play) is governed by Google's terms and may not be part of this request.

What we may retain temporarily

To fulfill legal obligations and resolve disputes, we may keep minimal technical records (e.g., consent logs and accounting documents) for a necessary period, typically up to 30 days, or longer where required by law. These records aren't used for any other purpose.
